Continuous Improvement!
They’ve put in a lot of work and continue to do so. Greens are improving. Layout is phenomenal.
Good value
Course in nice condition. Tee boxes fair, fairway and green nice. Excellent value. Slow pace on back nine
Enjoyable Day
I have always liked playing OakWing.
I was a single and caught up to a foursome on #11 and they gave no indication of letting me thru. Course is in great shape. Some tee boxes need work. Greens were better than I have seen them in years. Bunker renovation was much needed and looks great. One of my Top 5 favorite courses in Louisiana.
Y’all can play through if you’d like
Saturday morning my buddy and I decided we were going to play a round at Oak Wing. A course we have both played previously several times, we enjoy the layout and length of the course. We knew there would be some wind and giving we are not scratch golfers we chose the more wooded Oak Wing instead of the Links style neighboring course “Links on the Bayou”. I got us a Hot Deal on my Golf now app which was great. Arriving at the first Tee there was your typical Saturday traffic a group of four, a group of 5 members, then it was our turn. While watching the first group tee off, the group of 5 members told us “hey guys go ahead, we’re in no hurry y’all can play through if you’d like”. We both agreed it would be wise to pass the group of golfers. About the third tee we hear they’re speaker blaring on their cart coming up behind us. We had to wait on the group ahead of us to clear the green on each hole. While on the green we hear fore and a bright yellow ball from the tee box lands in the green side bunker, a bunker that was like the rest of the bunkers on the course being renovated. As was the rest of the course, with paint lines and excavator tracks all over the fringe of the greens. We got no heads up of the construction on the course, was only told it looks better than it has in years, which excited me because I was there a month before and it looked decent. That however was not the case the course looked terrible. Moral of the story don’t let someone play through and then drive balls into them while they’re trying to put. Also be mindful of your cart speaker, some people don’t like jamming wagon wheel while they’re playing golf on their day off. Last but not least let someone know when your course is almost unplayable.
Great Course
Bunker sand was hard, could use some frequent spinning to keep sand loose
