Founded in 1995, the Gulf Shores Golf Association is dedicated to promoting Alabama's Gulf Coast as a golf vacation destination. Annually, the GSGA publishes a 40-page golf vacation planner, maintains an interactive Web site (golfgulfshores.com) and cooperatively markets the area with the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"Recipe for a golf destination; a beach is nice, restaurants and nightlife help, shopping adds some flavor, but the essential ingredients are the golf courses, and with 10 tracks -- none older than 13-years, Gulf Shores, Alabama has freshness going for it," said Adam Barr, an analyst with the Golf Channel. "Among such hospitable surroundings, you just might get exactly what people look for in a golf vacation -- plenty of golf and just as much relaxation."

The Association's variety of signature golf is second to none. Creatively-designed and strategically-placed by some of the greatest names in golf course design, including Arnold Palmer, Larry Nelson, Bruce Devlin, Jerry Pate, Earl Stone and Robert Von Hagge, the area offers everything from scenic coast lines to wetland preserves, to rolling hills, to links-style golf, to courses cut right out of an Alabama forest preserve.

The GSGA's golf courses have joined forces with local accommodations to promote the area through very affordable golf packaging. The GSGA's lodging partners include everything from a world-class resort, to luxury beachfront condominiums, to onsite golf villas, to the affordable national chain hotels.
