Diamondhead Country Club in Diamondhead, MS
Diamondhead Country Club is the Biloxi area's only 36-hole facility. The woodsy Cardinal and Pines golf courses are built on rolling terrain with big sand bunkers. Both have been ranked among Mississippi's top golf courses.
The Pines does indeed have some memorable holes, notably the 439-yard, par-4 fourth, bordered on the left by a valley that slopes down toward a ditch that cuts across the fairway. Your approach is uphill, with a wind generally in your face. No. 12 is a short, tricky par 4, uphill all the way with a dogleg toward the end of the fairway guarded by big oaks, while the 18th has a narrow landing area on the other side of the fairway hump, unseen water to the right and a challenging two-tiered green. "Seen a lot of golf won and lost" on the closing hole, Head Professional Hoppy Smith said.
