Eagle Springs Golf Course
About
Eagle Springs Golf Course (formerly known as DeFuniak Springs Country Club) is Walton County's oldest course and one of the panhandle area's most challenging. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills covered with pine forests and five spring-fed lakes, both of which come into play throughout the course. Sandy scrub brush and colorful flowering bushes accent the landscape even further. The towering trees lining the tight fairways are just some of the many challenging natural hazards. There are also 23 strategically placed sand traps throughout. The small, elevated greens are pitched and undulated in such a manner that would make even the best putters nervous. The rolling elevations also provide picturesque views from nearly every point on golf course. Eagle Springs Golf Course requires accuracy and careful course management, but the layout is still surprisingly accessible for a range of skill levels. As part of recent initiatives and upgrades to the property and management, kids under 15 play free.

God Bless the City of Defuniak Springs
This course is in a complete and total Transformation !
Can't wait for the end result, and going back to play and see the progress.
Improved dramatically!
I grew up on this golf course, so i have seen it in some very rough shape. It had been about two months since i played last so i went out, and the course was so much better than what i had become accustom to. You can really tell the amount of hard work that has been put into the golf course lately.
Getting better
Fairways are coming along greens are getting better still need some work but the wispy grass along the sides of the fairways are impossible for higher handicap players to hit out of fix that this course becomes very playable and well worth the moneye and a good challenge
Better shape
I have played this coursevsince I was 13 years old. I have seen this course in great shape and I have seen it at its lowest. I am glad the county has purchased the course. They are doing great things. I have been playing it weekly and you can see the changes and the work they are doing. It has come along way since April. Keep up the great work.
Course update
Since the county took over they have made major improvements
Course upgrades
I have played this course since I was 13 years old. I have seen it at uts best, butI have also seen it at its worst. The county has since taken the course over in April. I have seen vast improvements since then. We play have been playing there weekly for 25.00 and can see the improvements. I believe this course is only going go fet better. The county is doing a great job.
Course in progress
The course was very nice had a great layout. Love seeing the progress they are making to it.
Great changes course purchased by WALTON County
Fairways are in excellent condition. Amazing what fertilizer and water will do. Most greens are in good shape. All are improving with the fertilizer and water being added. This course need some tender loving care. It is now getting lots of it. Course has all new equipment and professional Superintendant and assistant superintendent. If you have played this course in the past you will not recognize it now. The metamorphosis is amazing to see.
Jimmy staines
Haven't played a course with so much imprvement. Fairways are fantastic. For the costs I'd play their every day. Staff as friendly as it gets. Greens are as good as anywhere,i I mean fantastic. So for you people who wrote bad reviews I suggest you come back and check it out again. Unbelievable the improvements..
Course shape
Fair ways fair.
Greens are better and improving, but long way to go. Best shape in 6 years.
Would not recommend a friend yet. My friends like good putting surface.
rugged
Course is in recovery mode.
there are improvement that are for the better.
Will take the course 2 years to be in good playable shape at the pace they are applying.
Course is owned by the county politicians and should improve.
GREENS ARE STILL IN ROUGH SHAPE BUT ARE PUTABLE.
Improving
A lot of work being done, in progress. Fairway in good shape. Greens are small and very difficult to land on without rolling off. Several greens have bare spots close to the edge. Good golf now price and a 45 minute ride from Panama City Beach.
Good course that will only get better....
This is a course that has been neglected over the past 10 years if not longer. Walton County has taken over operations of Eagle Springs and they are pumping in a lot of cash to refurbish this old course. Future plans call for, new irrigation system, new greens and new cart paths just to name a few. Give them a year or two with these projects and this course will be a very nice to play.
I was talking to an employee of Eagle Springs today and she told me the original nine was open in roughly 1924 and the second nine completed in the 1960s. I don't think the greens have ever been modernized so I'm hoping the new greens will be bigger. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Great Course
Don't be fooled by the old reviews. This has been purchased by the county and they are putting a lot of money into it. The fairways are really nice, most of the greens are good but they are still being worked on. Very challenging course. I would say it is more challenging than Blackstone GC. I highly recommend you play at least once. Great value. Prices are cheap for such a nice course so far. Can't wait until it's finished
BOOTS
Greens were horrible didn't appear to have any Course Maintenance the only difference between rough and Fairway was rough had trees in it this course was recently taken over by Walton County and they need to dump a lot of money into it. for $25 it's $20 over priced actually I don't think I'd play for free!!
I went today and they have new irrigation put in and a lot of other stuff. They are putting a million dollars into it. It's already way better than it was. Just wanted to let you know you should totally give it another chance in another month or so.
