Great setting Photo submitted by covers05 on 04/14/2013
Very enjoyable round
Got word from the clubhouse beforehand that their greens mower is currently out of service so the greens were to be longer than usually kept. This presented its own challenge on the course during the round but was not in a condition I would consider unplayable. Slow yes, but manageable. If you find yourself in one of the many bunkers there, make sure and assess your lie accordingly. The two green side bunkers I found one left me with an unplayable lie and the other was just fine. Very unique layout, offers relief from the classic grip and rip style courses in the area. Fairways are generous on some holes and others are fairly narrow and challenging. Don’t expect to find a ball hit in the this overgrown rough outside the general playing areas. While these areas are not out of bounds on most holes, you may have trouble locating your ball none the less. All in all, will definitely get back there and try and beat my previous score under the current conditions. Beautiful layout, friendly staff, great pace of play never once felt rushed or intruding on others in front of us. When the greens are this long, you can be more aggressive around the greens for sure.
Won't go back
I have played here many times but this time, the conditions were some of the worse I've ever seen. From the bunkers to the greens, to the rough. The course has not been very well maintained. When you are 20' from the flag and can barely reach the hole, there is a problem. I love the layout and while there are a few unmemorable holes, most a well laid and somewhat challenging. I won't be back until I get word that it is in decent shape!
The staff are great everyone we met on the course was very friendly a lot of the over growth is being cut and cleaned up.The only complaint is the greens were not cut that made for some slow rolls
Great day on the links
Group of three for a round of 18. Had a great day and enjoyed the course. The staff at the pro shop and grill were awesome.
way below expectations
They've really let this go. Looks nothing like the online pics. First thing you notice driving in is all of the common and neighborhood areas have not been mowed or kept up. First warning sign. We were on a 9 day LA golf trail trip and the carts were the worst and most basic we encountered. The "clubhouse" looks like a couple of double wide trailers and we were told there is "no driving range." Whether that means it's gone or just closed who knows. The practice putting green was terrible. The layout wasn't bad and the course conditions were avg to poor with grass growing into the bunkers, weeds, etc. We had to wait on every shot and I think the avg age of the players we saw was about 80. The only good thing is that the $30 incl lunch so we quit after 9, ate and left. They must really be having some financial issues.
Not what we thought
The course layout is okay and the conditions were just okay but virtually everything else was a disappointment given the pictures on the website. Pictures made it look like a perfectly manicured course but that was far the truth. Overhanging grass in the bunkers and all the surrounding areas were unmowed. Looked very much like your inner city course. Cup settings look like they haven't been changed in weeks and there was no driving range. The practice putting green was very weak. The place is full of very old golfers and we had to wait on every shot. The carts were below average and the clubhouse looked like two trailers put together. Not at all what we were expecting.
What an improvement
The course is coming along nicely! Greens are much better.
Great course to,play
Greatly enjoyed the round….only one problem though. They let the rain stop, our round on the 11th hole. Just kidding…great course.
Much improved greens!
The greens were 1000% better than when I played the course a few months ago.
I’m worried
There aren’t many choices in Baton Rouge as far as golf courses are concerned and one of those choices is Copper Mill.
My last couple of rounds there gave me cause for concern due to the decline in maintenance.
A mower and a weed eater would make a big difference.
