Tiger Point Golf Club
About
The course at Tiger Point runs alongside the Intracoastal Waterway, offering panoramic ocean views. The course was designed in the tradition of classic Scottish links golf courses but with the added feature of water, which comes into play on 14 holes. A generous sprinkling of towering southern pines sets the layout apart as well. Originally a nine-hole course, another nine was added in 1984 and in 1989, then was another redesign of the golf course. Since then, it has becomes one of the Pensacola area's most treasured courses. Tiger Point also offers a driving range, practice bunker, two practice greens, and a chipping green.

Worst greens ever!
This golf course is absolutely pitiful. They should close it down and redo the entire course. All of the greens were brown and most of them had dirt/muddy patches on them. The city of Gulf Breeze owns this course now (from what I was told) and they should be ashamed of it. Such pretty views and could be a great course. I realize it's early March but, we were at Lost Key last week and it was in top shape...greens were just gorgeous...so, I know it can be fixed.
Good course greens need a lot of work
Greens like putting on pavement. A lot have tiny shoots growing in them causing ball to deflect. Rest of course in good condition.
1st time to play course and last time
For a former PGA Tour course, it is far from it.
Greens and fairways had a lot of bare spots and weeds.
Tough Challenge
We played in very windy conditions. What made it more challenging was the large number of water hazards and sand traps. Some of the greens had crab grass issues. Overall the greens were very fast and the fairways were cut close resulting in tight lies.
Great Value
As the weather has gotten warmer this winter the course has had a lot more play and the grass on the fairways and greens has not done well. The greens have a lot of Poa Annua and are OK to putt if you play early in the day but become bumpy if playing later. The greens are receptive to a good shot and the bunkers are in fair to good condition.
Unnecessarily slow
After I hit my tee shot on the first hole a course employee approached and told my partner not to hit his tee shot. We were told to wait for three groups coming up 16, 17 and 18, who had started on 16. We were told these 8 or 9 retirees played the course 4-5 times a week and didn't like it when other players "cut in front of them". I was flabbergasted, but wait we did for 30 minutes. We two followed these guys for the next 15 holes. We waited on every shot. Every shot. I've got nothing against retirees - I'm one myself, but this special treatment, even if they were members (this is a city-owned course by the way) was uncalled for. The round, not counting the half hour wait took 4 1/2 hours. It was painful.
I've played Tiger Point maybe 8 times as a winter visitor, and I like the course, but never again. I'm done with Tiger Point. Oh and by the way, I was told there would be a beverage cart but didn't see it until the 14th tee. So couldn't even drink beer to pass the time. It was painful.
Very slow play
5 some slowed pace of play and 2 some behind them , thought they were great players, which they were not, so they waited every hole til. 5 some was off green.
This course is very nice
I've always enjoyed this course. It is fun and challenging with great tees for everybody
Nice course, great staff
Good place to play golf. Well worth the price of admission.
Good value
This course will test your skills from whatever tee box fits your game. I am a senior and played from the gray markers. That marker measures about 5600 yards and most holes can be reached in regulation. The undulating greens are very smooth and fast making 3 putts common. Miss the green, chip up, then 3 putt and double bogie is easy. I plan to try again soon to stay within my handicap. Maybe I can learn to two putt and get more pars. Nice course, worth the greens fee.
Tiger point golf
Challenging course, nice ocean views, three over the water greens., a lot of water. The greens are like pool table felt and fast.
Golf OK/Other Issues
Have played course several times however a couple of things happened that were disappointing. (1) On #5 tee box the golf pro, superintendent ? - somebody drove by and chided me about not having cart parked totally on path instead of on the dirt right off the path - I had the left front tire off the path - it was wrong I admit. When I didn't verbally respond - he said "why do you want to get mad about it - we're just trying to improve the course" I told him just because I didn't say anything doesn't mean I'm mad... The point is that I've been playing the course for years and there are several areas at tee boxes and all over the course that have missing grass for whatever reason. If management is serious about improving these areas - they should rope them off. (2) The pro shop warned me there would be some kids playing soccer golf (or something to do with kicking the ball :) somewhere on the back nine but they would be off to the side and were told not to interfere with the golfers, etc. Well ... that wasn't the case ! At hole 15 -- there began a steady progression of kids driving golf carts making all kinds of racket while we were on tee boxes, putting, on fairways, etc. Even adults driving carts didn't have a clue as to any kind of golf etiquette. One group of girls got out 75 yards in front of us on the tee box and I had to tell the adult lady that they needed to let us play thru. As we drove by she said the management said there would be no golfers on the course ! So we ended up having to skip the last 3 holes - my partner didn't want to continue.
So - I don't know if it is new management at the course but they have plenty of things to worry about, as far as, trying to ensure their customers come back to play the course.
Great Course
Beautiful Views Great Conditions Great value
Excellent course.
My wife and I, who are both members of British clubs, played this course on holiday and would gladly play it again. Played with a 3 handicap player who also enjoyed. Good layout and challenging. Highly recommend to all. Good condition and staff friendly.
